Dr. Schmidt has more than 25 years of combined professional experience as a licensed chiropractor and family nurse practitioner. In 2018, Dr. Schmidt earned M.D., MBBS, and MS degrees, graduating from an international medical school (completing his Internship MS3/MS4 years in the Dallas/Fort Worth area) with the academic honors of summa cum laude. The medical university recognized Dr. Schmidt with the Osler Award for Overall Clinical Medicine and the President’s [POTUS] Volunteer Service Award. After completing medical school, Dr. Schmidt re-prioritized the balance of career and family opting to defer residency. He immersed himself in family medicine, urgent care, physical medicine, and tactical/field medicine, while earning post-graduate certificates in lifestyle medicine and the management of opioid use disorders both from Harvard Medical School.
Locally, Dr. Schmidt served his community as Chair on the Board of Health for the City of Irving and as a volunteer healthcare provider for the Dallas Police Department/SWAT & Tactical Units. Nationally, Dr. Schmidt proudly serves his country as a front-line medical provider actively credentialed under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, supporting the U.S. Border Patrol. Dr. Schmidt has served his country on both the Texas and Arizona International Border providing tactical medical care during the COVID-19 crisis.
Dr. Schmidt serves as a board-certified family nurse practitioner and director of the Department of Integrative Medicine at Parker University’s Synapse: Human Performance Centers located in the Baylor Scott & White Sports Therapy and Research Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. Dr. Schmidt coordinates the clinical and medical care with Synapse HPC’s chief medical director. Dr. Schmidt is actively licensed by the Texas and Arizona Board of Nursing as an FNP/NP-C/APRN and the Texas and Arizona Board of Chiropractic Examiners as a D.C. and is not actively licensed by the Texas Medical Board as a medical doctor. Dr. Schmidt enjoys traveling to Boston where he grew up with his wife Kristina who is an ICU Nurse originally from New Jersey.
